| The following announcements were made on 17 August 2010 by David Feeney - Manager, Industry Consultation, NBN Co. 1. Wireless and Satellite Product Overview NBN Co has today released the Wireless and Satellite Product Overview papers for your consideration and input. The papers will shortly be published on the NBN Co website, and can be downloaded at http://www.nbnco.com.au/publications-and-announcements/publications The purpose of releasing the Wireless and Satellite Product Overview papers is to obtain direct feedback from the industry on the proposed design of the Wireless and Satellite Access Products. The NBN Co objective is to be open and transparent in its dealings with the industry and interested stakeholders. We are keen to provide our stakeholders with the opportunity to directly provide their views on key issues related to the Wireless and Satellite Access Products. Accordingly, the release of these papers is intended to serve as the starting point for a discussion with our stakeholders. We welcome written submissions from interested parties on these Product Overviews, and will be consulting directly with interested parties where appropriate. Interested parties have until 2 September 2010 to provide written submissions. Submissions can be sent via email to: feedback@nbnco.com.au. All submissions will be published on the NBN Co website. Therefore, NBN Co would like submitters to provide a document suitable for publication. If submitters have confidential information they wish to provide, NBN Co asks that these sections are highlighted and that a public version of the submission is also provided. 2. Fibre Access Service Product Overview NBN Co has today released the Fibre Access Service Product Overview. The paper will shortly be published on the NBN Co website, and can be downloaded at http://www.nbnco.com.au/publications-and-announcements/publications The release of NBN Co’s Fibre Access Product Overview represents the culmination of an extensive industry engagement program on the NBN Co fibre product. As a wholesale only provider, NBN Co has been keen to engage with the industry to understand the industry’s product requirements. NBN Co has been actively engaging with Access Seekers since its inception. NBN Co has engaged with Access Seekers through a mixture of industry wide processes and bilateral meetings. NBN Co has also engaged on technical matters with industry via the Communications Alliance and met and presented to other industry groups. On the industry wide front, over 1000 attendees have participated in NBN Co industry consultation forums:
NBN Co released a public Product Consultation paper in December 2009. Nearly 50 submissions were received from industry and interested stakeholders and we released a response paper in March 2010. On the bilateral front, NBN Co has held a number of "deep dive" product workshops with a number of key retail and wholesale service providers. NBN Co has completed approximately 150 hours of direct product deep dives in workshop sessions with over 25 access seekers spread across Australia. These sessions were designed to ensure that we get as much information as possible from our prospective customers to ensure that we develop the right products, operational systems and processes for industry and end users. We have received a significant amount of valuable feedback from these engagements, much of which has been incorporated into this product paper. Next steps As part of the overall development of our commercial products, and the further definition of the network architecture, NBN Co is also developing a related POI Consultation Paper, and a NBN Co Fibre Access Service (NFAS) Pricing Paper.
